I made the drive out to Andy's place today since there was not much else to do and we found some of his problems and one big self inflicted problem from welding the exhaust manifold , some weld be be's got into 3-4 and left there mark in the top of the pistons and head . Andy's power problems were inpart due to advance springs in the dist. have just seen a little to much field testing valves set loose a heat riser not working and needs freed up a bit more and a new pin put in to hold the Bi metal spring . we did not get a chance to set the timing because of the be be's as they were rapping and sure as all get out did not want to run the engine up to PTO speed to set it . The one thing i forgot to show him was how to get the carb and gov. set so she would work to her max.We Also went thru his owner's manual and he read for himself WHAT GAS is to be run in that tractor. He was telling me that they also have a 656 Hydro and it is not running well and he knows now how to handle that himself. He will need to get some new parts and i told him he knows how to get ahold of me if he runs into problems. BTW Andy is a fine young man and has a nice family and a nice small farm with mostly RED iron with just a hint of that off color Green.
