Around here the 400 and 450 did not have as good a reputation as the super or smta. Like said, gasoline consumption on gas models and all the leaks and hydraulic vibrations causing hydraulic line failure. Should be noted that most 400's had the small fuel tank which gave some what of a false impression on fuel consumption. It was not unusual to have a 400 used tractor standing on the lot that could not be moved where the super's went right away. I personally didn't think this made a lot of sense as 80 percent of the parts were interchangeable from SMTA to a 400. Hoods, hydraulics and hitch, slightly higher comp head on gas that is about it for diff.
