sounds like he is an honest man. work with him, and as long as he is fair with you, then return the favor. Good, honest machine shops are getting harder to find.
One time on a Ford V-8 rebuild, my shop had a new kid, and he put the head gaskets on backwards. You know what that does. Pretty simple, I called the owner, and he said a few choice words about the employee , then said, "bring the heads back. I'll recheck and recondition if necessary, give you replacement oil, antifreeze, and new gaskets". and wouldn't stop apologizing. I still do business with him, and will continue.
People can make mistakes. What is more important than the fact that a mistake was made, is how they deal with the mistake. I challenge anyone on this board to state that they have never, ever, ever, made a mistake on an engine or tractor........................
