Red. The only things on the chassis that would not have been totally red would be the glass (gauge faces and light lenses), the electrical connections (VR/ cutout and starter, plug wires), and the rubber on the steering wheel, all of which were masked off, if the steering wheel was even attached as the chassis went thhrough the paint line). The radiator and fan and genny belts were in place but were avoided and started black and were delivered with whatever red overspray got on them while painting the rest red. Only exception I can think of might be with the ignition. Mag bodies were generally coated in lacquer (some sort that had no metallic content to disturb their function????) and I can't say that I ever saw any paint on the cap of either a magneto or a battery ignition distributor, suggesting that they were bolted on after the chassis was painted, so I might add them to the list.
Only black on my '47 BN is the cover on the cutout (a moment of weakness on my part) and the bakelite???? coil and distributor caps on the mag. Only other things that aren't red are the rims on the tires.
