Old Okie said: (quoted from post at 07:25:19 04/28/10) I have a 1942 farmall A with a woods 59A mower. I have mowed with this setup for 25+ years with no trouble just a few worn belts. A few years ago I broke the pullys at bottom where the belt makes 90 degree turn between PTO and mower deck. I have never got it setup right again. It throws belts & breaks belts. I have just parked it. I would like to use it. Any tip's to get setup correctly?
Standing behind the tractor while facing it, the belt on the right side needs a 3/4 twist, and the belt on the left side needs a 1/2 twist. I went through the same thing with my 306 mounted under a Farmall H, and if the belt does not have the correct twist, it will NOT stay on. Period.
