A lot of serial plates look like that. The silk screening has worn/weathered off and the stamped part remains. That serial number is from late '49. The grille has been replaced with the 4-bar style which was factory installed from '58 to '63. Not an unusual substitution.
The front wheels were originally red. The rear wheel disks were also red. The rear rims were silver/galvanized. Your exhaust pipe is silver, so I assume the manifold is as well. Origially, the manifold and exhaust pipe were red. Otherwise your colors look pretty well as originally built.
Original equipment would have used a magneto. Yours has been converted to battery ignition.
