Dave, the distillate manifold was used for dual fuel tractors, ie. could run on Gas or distillate (or kerosene). They have a chamber with a butterfly valve that redirect exhaust gasses through the manifold to heat it up to help vaporize the distillate or Kerosene.
The distillate or gasoline manifolds are totally interchangable. If you happen to have a distillate carb, if you are looking for optimal performance on gas, you will want to change out the jets, BUT THAT IS NOT REQUIRED.
Depending upon the condition of your existing manifold, that should decide whether you spend $75 for the replacement part, or just buy a new gas manifold.
Either way, there are no required modifications to interchange those manifolds.
