Stop how you are doing it, because it will break the bull pinion carrier. In order to remove the carrier, you need to remove the bull gear from the axle, otherwise the carrier will catch on the bull gear and break off part of the back side that holds the inner bearing in the carrier. If you really want to continue, the easiest way is to jack up the axle housing, remove the PTO, and rear wheel. Remove the bolt inside the trans that holds the bull gear to the axle, remove the axle cap and pull the axle out. This will also give you a chance to inspect the axle bearings, and replace the axle felt and oil seal. After the axle is out, and the bull gear moved out of the way, then remove the brake and bull carrier from the tractor.
