I don't know the Super As that well, Dave, but it looks like a similar setup to the Super Cs. My SC (a '51) has two sides and a lid for the battery box -- the back of the battery is open to the cavity of the panel, and the T/C unit makes for the front. (There was a fourth piece, a front panel, available to close in the front on Cs without T/C or -- if there even was such a thing -- a SuperC with a T/C delete.) The common factor, was the open front (or back, all dependin' on where you're standin') of the panel.
As for the bolt holes on the top edge, if the side panels bolt up like they do on the SuperC, those holes hold up the top-rear corner of each side piece. On the Super C, the one to the starboard side is also where the battery grounds.
