O.K., You got me curious enough to go back out to the shop. I've got a '46 H setting with the hood off. It has a 6 volt generator with a regulator mounted in a remote location, but the generator DOES have the holes for the saddle mount relay, so I grabbed the afore-mentioned cut-out relay and sat it down on top of that generator. Found out that the old relay sits WAY down on the generator, a whole bunch lower than Mikes', and there is PLENTY of room to clear the hood. So Mike, that saddle mount regulator you have isn't going to work in that application.
