My brotherinlaw has a 45' M that I can't get to run right. It smokes like unburnt gas and has a miss to it. I did a compression test #1 100psi #2 90 #3 100 #4 90. I set the valves, changed plug wires, re-gapped the plugs, re-gapped the points, checked the air cleaner, cleaned the carb, set the float. With the tractor running I took off one plug wire at a time and found that #2 makes no differance if its off or on, and the other 3 you can tell as soon as you unhook the wire it misses worse. So we took the plugs out again and spun the engine over every spark plug has spark, a real good spark, but when you put them in and tried it again the same thing happens, you can pull #2 plug wire and can't tell a differance. It has a near new dist. cap also. It's getting gas cause the plug is wet with gas when you pull it. The tractor runs good, idles good, its just #2 wont fire with the plug in the engine. This tractor has a magneto. I was thinking of trying one of my M's distributor and coil to see if that makes a differance, Any ideas? Thanks Doug
