Genny belt saga continues

Upon suggestion from this thread: http://ytforums.ytmag.com/viewtopic.php?t=548514 I turned the bracket upside down to see how that will affect my genny belt replacement. Here is what I found, please offer suggestions...

The bottom bracket, as you may know, has it's holes off-set. So when I flipped it, it pulled the genny back. That pulled the belt out of alignment, as shown here:

The flipped bracket also raised the genny, which put the belt very, very close to the bottom of the water pump, as seen in these 2 pics:

With the bracket flipped back, how I originally intended, you can see the clearance under the hood. But if I stretch it out to tension the belt, I get awfully close to the side of the hood. It may even hit. Hard to tell without the radiator on.

So, I'm not sure what to do. Buying a new belt may be expensive. I could drill out new holes in the bottom bracket to pull the genny forward to align it with the engine pulley, but I don't know if it will clear that water pump enough. I can only hope that it does.

What do you all think I should do at this point?

Oh, and a question was asked whether my genny pulley is adjustable... yes it is. When I tighten it, the slot for the belt has a larger diameter, tightening the belt.
