Hello Old School. I was a propane dealer for 25 years and repaired many LP systems. The Century Model H regulator you have is a very good regulator. But, like anything else, has to be repaired from time to time. If it runs crappy until you push the primer, you have a vaccuum leak somewhere between the regulator and the carb. The regulator has a diaphragm in the secondary chamber that is pulled down by the engine vaccuum which then pushes down the secondary valve releasing gas to the carburetor. . You could have holes in your vapor hose or loose fittings where the vapor hose connects to the regulator and the carburetor which would cause the symptoms you're seeing now. Make sure the hose and fittings are tight at all locations. If these all check out good, you probably have pin holes in the secondary diaphragm. To check the diaphragm, remove the top cover and carefully remove the diaphragm. You can do this without removing the regulator from the tractor. Hold the diaphragm up to a light and look through it while stretching it out. If you see any light through it, that could cause your problem. It is easily repaired. You can do it yourself. Find a Century Supplier and order a repair kit for the Model H. It will come with instructions. This would be much cheaper than replacing it with an Impco. Impco is a very good product, but, Century is just as good, in my opinion. If you need any help with it, holler at me here and I'll get with you. Good luck, you can do it. Dan
