There is only one set of hookups because the tractor is supposed to have two large 6V batteries in series. The + cable goes to the + on one battery. The - goes to the - post on the other battery. Connect the two batteries together - to + using a short cable.
Two 12V in parallel, or two 6V in series. Doesn't matter. End result is the same as far as cold cranking amps go.
DO NOT just buy one 12V battery and add it to the existing one. That is a recipe for a never-ending nightmare of dead batteries. Both batteries need to be purchased new at the same time, and replaced at the same time. When the old battery dies, it ruins the new battery. You replace the old battery, and now the "old new" battery ruins the "new new" battery... With two 6V in series, you can replace either battery at any time without worrying about one ruining the other.
You might be better off finding a bigger single 12V battery. Get a real tractor battery too. Car batteries won't take the abuse of bouncing around a rough field for hours on end.
