If you are getting tranny fluid into a lift-all you have two seals out. The transmission shaft has a seal and a bearing on it and the lift-all has a seal and a bearing.
If that is really an M pump, it's a heavy thing. Easiest way to do it by yourself is with four pieces of all-thread. Take two of the bolts that hold the pump to the mounting plate and replace them with all-thread and run nuts up to hold the pump up. Then take the other two bolts out and replace them with all-thread and nuts. run the nuts down the all-thread to lower the pump.
An alternate method is to build a v-chaped platform you can fasten to a transmission jack to raise and lower the pump with. You can't just put a rod through the cultivator lift holes in the bottom of the pump because it will tip as soon as you clear the frame.
If you know an old IH mechanic, he probably has a special-built handle to allow two men to lower that pump.
