Most likely a new coil (points might also be needed. I assume you were running it while the coil was getting hot. It is not a good idea to leave the ign. on while not running, that will overheat the coil because it is designed to be "On" about 1/2 the time or less. Dwell as a percentage of rotation per cylinder. JimN
