Probably it is just a bad head gasket. Been there done that more times than I care to remember. Cracked heads do happen yes but more than likely it is the gasket. Check the GSS-1411 Service Manual or GSS-1007 Engine Service Manuals under Blue Ribbon Service Manuals on the Cub Manual Server. Hope that helps.
You really should have the 3 basic manuals.. Owner's, GSS-1411 and the TC-37 series Parts Catalog... No Cub should be without them :-)
