I've got four B-275s, all now 12 volt negative ground with Delco or Hitachi alternators. So, if you get stuck and have any specific questions - I'll try to answer. Also have a 3414 backhoe that is basically the same as a B-275.
If you plan on keeping that Lucas generator, you'll need a different regulator. It' not worth it. You can install a negative-ground Hitachi or Delco alternator much cheaper and get a lot more charging current for running lights, etc.
Why do you want to change the polarity? There's no gain, either way - just happens to be a necessity when installing an alternator.
As to the clutch? It's a pretty rugged seup and it would be rare when all needs replacement. I've put new clutches in many. Usually two new clutch disks, a throwout bearing, and - sometimes new clutch fingers - and you'll be fine. The new fingers are still available from IH, over the counter.
