I received a Christmas card in the mail with an enclosed note informing me that, “A donation has been made in your name to the xyz charity.” Well guess what! I do not want my name affiliated with that corrupt embezzlement riddled organization. I do not want my name added to yet another gimme, gimme mailing list. I do not want my personal information put into the hands of yet another potential identity thief. If you want to donate to the xyz charity go ahead, have at it, but leave me out of it. For anyone to think they have the right to decide someone else’s charitable affiliation is not only rude and arrogant but a gross invasion of privacy. The decision on where, when and how I choose to “give back to society” is my decision, not yours.
I may not win any converts here and I’m not trying to dampen the spirit of sharing, but this practice has been bothering me forever and I’m not going to tolerate it any longer. I am going to return the paperwork with a note informing the offender that they do not have permission to affiliate my name with any organization not of my choosing and instruct them to have my name removed from the organizations records.
