I recently rescued my families main tractor "55 Farmall 400. It has a couple of disturbing quirks.
1. Tho Dad rebuilt the torque( unknown how deep he rebuilt it) it works once or twice then goes away. When it goes it starts to engage then goes to free wheel at which time I instantly shift the lever foreward. When it holds I can stand on the brakes and pull the motor down. Adjustment problem or replace time?
2. The Pto makes a wierd sound and pushes fluid out the breather when its disengaged. Shaft stops and starts normal and brake seems to work. I drained the fluid (It was white and creamy) and replaced with Hy trans in clutch tranny rearend and PTO. Adjustment or worse ?
3. The power steering is lazy to the left. Not unusable but an anoyance.
Yup its farm fresh and neglected. motor runs good and sheet metal is mostly straight(exception is rad shell, slight damage on ribs and screen) Thank you Timok1 from the Rocking TJC
