My view on this has very little to do with beauty. My dad and I bought at least one new tractor, each series, all the way from letter, super letter, 00, 30-50, 40-60, 04-06, 56 and 66. The 560 was a good tractor, however the sheet metal was crap, particularly the fasteners. We listened to that sheet metal vibrate and rattle for 10,000 of the 11,000 hours we put on the tractor. That did not happen with the other 15 Farmalls we owned.
If I were to judge styling and looks, I'd give 1st to letter and super letter series, 2nd to 56 series, 3rd to 04-06 series, 4th to 66 series and 5th to 40-60. The 460 and 560 looked like locomotives, and manuvered just about as well. Six inches longer in wheelbase yet the same wide front steering as 400 and 450. The 04-06 tractor improved some, however none of them hold a candle on manuvarability to 56 and 66 series tractors. As I told a friend about my wide front 656, "It will turn on the same headland as your MF-35, plus I can pull a 5x16 plow." I bet that 656D didn't burn twice the fuel of his MF-35 either.
