IH really never built a tractor comparable to the 8N. Their first low profile tractor was the 300 in 54, but it probably weighed twice as much as 8N and had 35 horsepower.
In the series that followed, 300 was replaced by 350 in 1956 and they built a lighter, less hp 330, that got closer to the 8N. That series lasted two years and in 1958 came the 40-60 series. 460 replaced the 350, 340 replaced the 330 and the 240 was the first utility version of the SC, 200, 230. 240 would compare quite favourably with the 8N. It was followed by a 404, bit more hp.
