Thanks for the replies. I actually found a 5 foot section of 1 1/2 pipe in my basement. It still had the orange cap over the threads on both ends.
Unfortunately, it is all a moot point now. I went to drain teh oil, in preparation for starting it for the first time since I got it, and there was about a gallon of antifreeze in the oil pan.
I bought the tractor from a guy who rebuilt the engine last year. they fired it up, it was ticking loudly, they assumed a valve needed adjusted, and then he died. So, his son sold it to me. They couldn't have possibly known. Now, I don't know whether it has a crack in teh block, or the headgasket was not installed properly. The cylinder head has had a ton of work done to it, and every part looks brand new. The problem is, I got the oil pan off, and noticed that there is still red primer inside the block. So, they did not have the engine block dipped and magnafluxed.
So, we'll see... I am crossing every finger I have on this one.
