The F12 is in pieces

Man, I should have done this a year ago. I started the disassembly of the F12 today.

The good news - the sleeves look fine. New rings, little honing and they will work as is. The valves look great too. Just a little wire brush action needed.

The scary news - I don't know how I avoided ruining this thing. The oil lines were totally fouled with gunk. The oil filter still looks brand new, but the chamber it sets on was filled completely with crud. The oil strainer in the sump was also clogged. These engines mus be some kind of strong.

Did I mention that the water paths were clogged with chunks of rust and metal too?

OK, I was dumb. But now I am feeling lucky that I did this in time. Had I been working the F12 instead of just listening to it, there would probably have been a meltdown.I have it pretty well disassembled. Paint is bought and ready.

Did ya know that to replace the fan belt you have to undo the front engine mount? Maybe this machine wasn't quite the engineering marvel yet.
