Hi Joe, 430 balers had two different styles of knotters, regular and all twine knotters. The all twine knotters were a great improvement over the regular knotters. If it has all twine knotters it will be indicated on the decals.
The common problem with the regular knotters were they were intolerant of inconsistencies in the twine (did not like thick & thin spots), always required a sharp twine knife and twine hold disk had to be adjusted to thickness of twine by adding or removing shims.

The Operators Manual has a good section on trouble shooting knotter problems. You have to look at the twine that is on the side that didn't tie. Is it long enough to go around the bale? Is it broken or cut from a worn part or nicked part in twine path? Is the bow tied or was it tied and has been pulled loose? Check cut ends of twine, clean cut or ragged with threads hanging out? This is indication of dull twine knife or miss adjusted twine knife. Compare good side vs missing side.
