Tube sizes are for specific tire sizes, a few interchange, but the tube must be a neutral fit into the inside of the carcass of the tire, and rim dimensions. If it is too big, it will fold and pinch. if too small, it will be stretched and develop leaks. A 5.50-16 will take a 5.50-16 tube. The numbering system used for old tractors and antiques are obsolete in the modern world, but still used. JimN
