tire tube size

I assume the front tires for a 44' H are tube type tires. I am getting ready to replace the front tires on the tractor (5.50x16, 3 rib) and I need to buy the tubes. How does tube size work? In other words, what size tube do I need. Thanks Ryan

Tube sizes are for specific tire sizes, a few interchange, but the tube must be a neutral fit into the inside of the carcass of the tire, and rim dimensions. If it is too big, it will fold and pinch. if too small, it will be stretched and develop leaks. A 5.50-16 will take a 5.50-16 tube.
The numbering system used for old tractors and antiques are obsolete in the modern world, but still used. JimN
