Diesel in mexico is 5.76 peso/litre which at todays exchange rate and converting from litres to gallons the price is 2.07 for diesel. In mexico the government owns all the gas stations and diesel is regulated not open to market forces... The 2.07 is for people driving commerical trucks which represents a 20% discount without the discount ,diesel is about 2.47 a gallon. You are allowed 100 gallons of fuel beyond what your tanks on you truck or car hold without paying a hefty terrif. Only down side is you might have to wait a long time to get back into the us. but at 50-60 percent off it would be worth the wait especally if your taking on 300 gallons. savings of 600`compared to the 4.20 diesel in the united states. on another note.... i do not buy diesel (fuel oil) to heat my home no more, it is cheeper to heat with electric. My home could use 10 gallons or more on a cold day. well no tax diesel is 3.69 at 37 bucks a day just for diesel.. for. that same 37 bucks i can buy 370 kilowatt hours which will run a 1000 watt heater for 370 hours. I have 5 heaters throught the house they are oil filled heaters and cost me an extra $200-$300 a month on my electric bill. so at todays diesels prices i save around 600 or more by using electric. plus you are sales tax excempt on your electric bill for the heating season. propaine is high now too i"m not sure if electric would be cheepeer in the long run. one nice thing about electric ther are capped at so much per kilo watt hour. i would like to hear comments on what your doing to take the sting out of high diesel cost ????? sorry for the long post....
