I'd never win any sales awards either, probably why I never wanted to be a salesman? ;o)
Years ago I had a '67 Chevy pickup out along the road with a For Sale sign on it. One guy looked at and said he wouldn't buy it 'cause I'd removed all the smog equipment from the engine. Told him all that was on them in '67 was a PCV valve, that '68 was the first year they had air pump smog junk on 'em. He got mad, called me a liar and left.
Another guy came with his bro-inlaw who wanted the truck and crawled underneath to pronounce it unworthy 'cause the cab outriggers were rusted out. Told him on a Ford, the cab would eventually fall off, but on the Chevy it didn't mean squat. He talked the bro-inlaw out of buying it, then showed up the next day to offer me about $400 less than I was asking. Told him to hit the road. Few days later another feller came to look, drove it around out back in the field a bit, then plunked down what I'd wanted for it.
Have sold several trucks over the years and eventually have gotten weary of stupid questions and annoying offers, so occasionally told someone there she is, as-is, buy her or not. Last tractor I sold was to a guy that had to have it, so it didn't require much in the way of people skills.
