I was just reading through the new Farmall H listings on ebay, and ran across this add. third party image

Item number: 170166420051

"I don't know the year and I don't care..."

"Shipping is your issue, not mine"
Well, he's got positive feedback I guess.

Maybe this is a local thing, but I find most of my ads are answered about two weeks AFTER the ad is removed from wherever I've posted it. The buyers will say, "I thought it would be cheaper by now because you didn't sell it yet."

I'm starting to get grumpy on ebay too. I'm constantly amazed by the amount of people that do not take the time to read my Always Painfully Accurate item description. I sold one toy that the plastic on the box was ripped, and that was the first thing i said, in BIG BOLD LETTERS. Guy that wins it, first thing he says is "Hey, the box is ripped, I didn't know that, can you send me a new one?"

Things aren't always what they seem. I remember once in North Carolina a buddy of mine was in the market for a boat. He wanted to answer a classified ad and wanted me to come along as I was into boating and he wasn't.

A lady came to the door and very sharply said, "The boats out back. Try it out if you want", and slammed the door.

So, we tried it out, and in the process my friend decided to buy it.

While buying it, the full story came out. The boat had been the prized possession of their 17 year old son. Their son and one of his buddies were going to sneak out to go to a dance. Their son tapped on his buddy's bedroom window at 11:00 pm for his buddy to crawl out the window to go to the dance. The buddy's father thought their son was a prowler and shot him.

After that, they couldn't stand to look at the boat. So, sometimes you need to cut folks some slack, because there may be more to it than what appears.

Well one can appreciate non fiction in an ad if you have ever bought any thing on ebay and been slickered a bit until threatening poor feedback.
Just my thoughts

Anywho I see the farmer all hot n greasy bent over a plow welding on it so I ask about the tractor for sale n he replies, "Its out in that other shed, I want $10,000 for it so if you want it fine if not get the H outa here Im busy"

Mike: Wonder if he ever won any sales awards?

I'd never win any sales awards either, probably why I never wanted to be a salesman? ;o)

Years ago I had a '67 Chevy pickup out along the road with a For Sale sign on it. One guy looked at and said he wouldn't buy it 'cause I'd removed all the smog equipment from the engine. Told him all that was on them in '67 was a PCV valve, that '68 was the first year they had air pump smog junk on 'em. He got mad, called me a liar and left.

Another guy came with his bro-inlaw who wanted the truck and crawled underneath to pronounce it unworthy 'cause the cab outriggers were rusted out. Told him on a Ford, the cab would eventually fall off, but on the Chevy it didn't mean squat. He talked the bro-inlaw out of buying it, then showed up the next day to offer me about $400 less than I was asking. Told him to hit the road. Few days later another feller came to look, drove it around out back in the field a bit, then plunked down what I'd wanted for it.

Have sold several trucks over the years and eventually have gotten weary of stupid questions and annoying offers, so occasionally told someone there she is, as-is, buy her or not. Last tractor I sold was to a guy that had to have it, so it didn't require much in the way of people skills.
