Did the adjustment to the carb with the engine off. Bob jumped in and suggested maybe tinkering with that for the low idle. What he suggested makes sense and I will try that. JimN mentioned the slop factor, but I really don't feel any.
Had her running full ahead at the seat while I was setting up the high idle with the top adjusting screw.
I hear ya about how a little bit of wear inside can make a big difference. When I was changing out the governor spring (factory replacement), I did think that the end of the internal arm on the governor, wher the top of the spring hooks, looked like the hole was egged out more than I'd like. That's the only weak spot I see.
And like you, I question the dimensions on the bellcrank on the throttle plate. I'm gamblin' on this being the correct carb, but I got the same number (Zenith 14007) going through Bermuda Ken and a couple other sources.
Whaddaya think about the two springs on either side of the block where the front end of the control rod hooks up to the governor? Could they be tired and out of balance and messin' me up? It'd be nice if it turns out to be that simple, but I got an idea that may have something to do with how far the contol lever is pulling back the arm on the governor. I got an awful feelin' though that the weak spot is the wear on that internal arm. 8^( Any fix for tha other than finding a good replacement?
Bein' outside the service area is a bummer. I used to be just about seven miles above Streetsboro, and might have tempted ya with a feed. But alas . . . I'll be grateful for any ideas you can come up with!
