And be careful of those petcocks on the oil pan. I've seen so many of them twisted off because people overtightened them with pliers or a wrench. They just need to be snug--a light tap with a wrench after you get them finger tight first. These were designed for tractors that burned kerosene or distillate. Their use goes way back into the twenties, at least. Kerosene or distillate did not vaporize as easily as gasoline, and apparently what was left in the cylinders after shutting off the motor would become liquid again and seep down into the oil. You were supposed to drain to the lowest petcock and then refill to the top one to avoid over-diluting the oil. Probably not as much of a problem if the fuel was shut off in order to stop the tractor.
