'Taint stupid if you don't know the answer! Think of all the great discoveries over the centuries that started as questions.
It is great to see so many people helping one another out in this forum.

This is just a additional point about Kero/distillate engines. Its not only at shut down but at any time the engine is running at below optimum operating temperature complete vapourisation is not possible. So its actually at low operating temps that un burned fuel seeps down into the oil pan. You are right about the pet cocks-treat em very gentle Mike Farmer

And be careful of those petcocks on the oil pan.
I've seen so many of them twisted off because people overtightened them with pliers or a wrench. They just need to be snug--a light tap with a wrench after you get them finger tight first.
These were designed for tractors that burned kerosene or distillate. Their use goes way back into the twenties, at least. Kerosene or distillate did not vaporize as easily as gasoline, and apparently what was left in the cylinders after shutting off the motor would become liquid again and seep down into the oil.
You were supposed to drain to the lowest petcock and then refill to the top one to avoid over-diluting the oil. Probably not as much of a problem if the fuel was shut off in order to stop the tractor.

That is correct, there are "ears" on that cap. Be careful removing it, if it is tight, they can break off.

Fill till oil come out the top petcock on the oil pan.

Yes, it is at the front most part of the engine, looks like a wing mounted on a circular plate, it is threaded, just give it a little persuasion to the counter clockwise direction, may need to use an adjustable wrench, or LIGHTLY use a hammer.
