Hello, I have a 706 gas w/ a 263 engine. It runs great, but when I put a load on the engine the RPM drops a little and the govenor seems to over compensate and the engine RPM surges. Pulling out the choke helps. So I tried richening the main jet, that helped a little but, it would foul plugs. The engine has new points, plugs, cap, rotor, wires, and rebuilt carb. The fuel supply to the carb is good, the timing is set at ten BTDC and the advance works good. I adjusted all the carb and govenor linkage as per the IT manual plus replaced the springs. I disassembled the govenor and that is in good shape and I tried to adjusting the buffer screw, but none of this helped very much. I by passed the resistor by the coil, this seemed to help but not fully fix the problem. I wonder if I need more voltage, it has 13 volts at the battery at high idle. I'm thinking about putting and altenator on it. I got the tractor this way and have no history on it. Im stuck, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!
