Jeff: If you park tractor with front wheels about 12" to 15" lower than rear, you will not loose any oil. I used to have a section of good one side douglas fir plywood to cover the hole. Bolt it on and keep on using tractor while pto was being rebuilt. Make sure you take out short shaft and both couplers if your going to keep using tractor. On rebuilding unit I can not advise. I just shipped them off to the IH dealer and had it done professionally.
