You really can't check the condition of the TA with the tractor sitting in the auction line. I've seen people put the tractor in 2nd or 3rd high, rev it up, stand on the brakes, and slip the bejeezus out of the clutch as a "test." But, that's VERY dangerous when people are milling around, especially if the brakes don't work. It's also not cool to abuse someone else's tractor like that, especially without asking. Unless the owner cut it off, 986s came with a cab, or a 4-post ROPS. They did not make any open-station 986s. The 4-post ROPS had vinyl side/rear curtains and doors to turn it into a cab, but that's for bad weather, not to keep the A/C in during the summer.
