Attending the 150th Vernon County Fair and on display is a Farmall 240 w/tricycle wheel that was purchased in Texas. Blue ribbon went to a beautifully restored JD H. Dad had one we used for tobacco. He got a blue ribbon on his hand-lettered "Dutchman Plows" sign, along w/ other ribbons. I took a self-portrait walking to an outhouse in my pin-stripped bibs and placed second in "rural life" competition. Eating great "fair food" and most of the time it is being consumed at the 4-H stand. Last evening a transformer went out and the grounds were dark except for the midway being powered by their own generator. An announcement was made asking people to be patient and stating that 150 years ago there wasn"t electricity on the grounds either! Visiting with folks seen only once-a-year at the fair. Miss being at the fair with my late girlfriend. Taking dad out to the fairgrounds for breaksfast now. Great cherry and apple pie. Life is short, eat desert first! Hope you folks are enjoying your day.
