Well if the timeing is correct and the pump is in time and the one thing that i will never ever do is use either . The only thing that comes to my mind is that it has the wrong pistons in it of the head was not done correctly and the compression ratio is way off and if ya bought this engine from some rebuilder then who the he-ll-o knows what they stuck in it or even if the timeing gears were makerd correctly. In all my years of doing engines i have only bought one and that was at a customers request and guess what that was the one that i had more trouble with and was a nightmare .
