I think the power screw on the front bottom of the carb needs to be screwed in 1/2 turn, then 1/4 turn at a time till it stops making (rich) black smoke. The Steering can be kept from leaking radically by pumping it full of Ford chassis specification Graphite grease (Black as the inside of a cow). It may not help the hard left turn (probably needs rebushed) but it will inprove the lube problem. JimN
