The answer is up to you. The advatages of non-stock components (12v alternator) are low maintenance and lower cost for parts. If all your components are good and the issue is wiring, go with the 6v they are fine. The wiring diagrams of Bob M, and the diagnosis on Mine and John T in the archives are worth the effort (near none) and repetitive to keep typing (or editing) into these pages.
