i have this bn that i purhased and it has a 12 volt battery for starting and that is all for electrical system. { have to charge it once in a while to keep battery up ] i purchased an original switch box and now i am wondering if i go back to the original 6volt system box and a 12 volt generator will the 12 volt battery make charcoal out of the original switch box ??? i want to put the tractor back to a lights and generator system and i don`t really care if it is 6 or 12volt ,,i never had a problem with 6 volt system on any of the older tractors. P.S. i know the answer is probably in the archives somewhere, but i`m just too dadgum tired and lazy to go look it up, besides that, i`m trying to keep those sharp brains out there from getting rusty like my old one ! lol ty, john

The answer is up to you. The advatages of non-stock components (12v alternator) are low maintenance and lower cost for parts. If all your components are good and the issue is wiring, go with the 6v they are fine. The wiring diagrams of Bob M, and the diagnosis on Mine and John T in the archives are worth the effort (near none) and repetitive to keep typing (or editing) into these pages. Good luck, it will work either way,
