A 300 may or may not have P/S, T/A or IPTO. Check play in steering, 1/4 turn can usually be adjusted out. 1/2 turn is excessive ! To check T/A, while driving tractor, pull t/a lever back and ride the brakes hard. If it doesn't slip, it's probably OK. If brakes are weak it is not expensive to replace discs, balls or springs, less than $100 if you replaced all of the above. Checking pto is a different story. You can make sure it turns on & off as it should, but to properly test, it needs a load on it. You can rebuild the water pump for about $40 or less as opposed to buying them rebuilt. Everything else to check is like any other tractor, these are just the most likely problem areas.
