Well Rusty what about the venton tip on the needel ??? i am not sure here as i have never put one in a alki blend gas to see if it softens it or not , but what i do know for a fact that in a holley carb or a AutoLite or Motor craft carb with a power valve and a accelarator pump it will just wipe them out . Now i do know that with a alki blend that you will loose some pony power as it takes more alki to get the same power . And this E10 is to reduce emissions and is and oxygenating agent that make oxygen leaning out the burn and lean is mean and increases combustion temps. Now i know that we are the last of the die hard doing real farm work with old tractors that burn gas as i am not talken just plowen the garden we are plowen over 75 acres a year with two S/MTA's and we see the differance between fuel grade as to what they do , but with the on farm gas price of 3.29 a galion even we are using my old 806 more and the gassers less . I fought a lot of fuel related problems over the years and the differance between the 87 verses the 93 and that is why we went over to the 93 for all the gassers now the 460-856 gassers should run the 93 and you may get by on the 87 just playen around but put her to work for a long day and ya can see the differance less plug fouling cooler running temp. and more giddy up and go like 3-5 hp. more on the dyno and better lug down. The new gas is not the same as when these old tractors were made and does not perform like the old stuf did it was made for the cars of today to reduce emissions with engine that have hotter spark computer controled injectors knock sencors to control timming and not under a real work load . Lot of differace between a working engine and a loafen engine as it does not take that much to move a car down the road . Now way back when i was young and just started driven big truck i dove a B60 Mack thermodyne gas burner that we pulled a rogers 50 ton lowboy and hauled big loads and i do mean big like D9 g cats D 8 's big shovels and that old horse burnt 105 octain gas and ate it to the tune of 3.5 mile to a galion and it would not even think of running on the reg of the day and that was 95 octain. I pumped a bunch of gas thru that old Mack till the boss got the bright idea of pullen the gassser out and we installed a 711 with a turbo with the same trans set up and rearends that did one thing when empty it kept me with in the speed limit .
