Setting the timming is just like anything else other then the fact that you do it with the engine running at full throttel and set for total advance . Now having a moment of SOMETIMERS here does it have points or one of them aftermarket electronic deals ?? If it does then this vary well could be the problem as one of them things left me with egg on my face at a tractor pull while on my way out the gate with a GOUGHCHOKE GAG MM U that my accountant and i built ten years ago with a Denny's Carb shop high tech electronic ing . and running down the track with the box all the way up to the stops and this thing is not slowen down one bit with the ft. end a foot off the ground dirt flyen off the tire and in 4th gear not even laboren the motor 50 ft past the best out there she poped once and just plum died about went over the steering wheel the electronic ing. took a dump good thing i had the old dist in the truck got it back up and running for the 7500 and she went out the gate in 4th . now that was the vary last time i ever used one of them . As i have found that for me i can get as much if not more out of my dist setup with good old fashioned points. SOOOOoooo just maybe ya might want to find a GOOD used dist from a 263 706 and go back and try it if you are any good at setting points. Now like i said clean up the ft. pulley as the timming marks are all there and also on the flywheel under the littel plate on the right side of the bell housing and it even comes with a pointer but that pointer is not as close as the one on the ft. pulley . Use a white paint stick and mark the TDC and the 22 degree advance and go for it.

Today's Featured Article - Box Plow Blues - by Tom Schwarz. One of the first implements most tractor owners obtain is the box plow. For very little money, this piece of equipment promises to plow and flatten any hill or vale on your ranch road or farm. At least that's what I thought! As simple as a box plow appears, it can be rather challenging to make work correctly. In our sandy soils of Florida, traction is king. You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U ... [Read Article]
