Was warm today so I decided to take down a 6ft x 10inch broken limb that was stuck high in a large maple tree before it fell on someone. So I got out the Case 1030 and parked it in a safe looking place. Then I nailed together two 8ft 2x2 to give me a 16ft reach. I stood on the tire of the 1030 and with the pole I could just reach the limb and pushed one end off where it was jammed. Now that limb should have fell straight down behind the tractor. But danged if my pole didnt catch on a twig and that limb got on that pole like a kid on a slide and came down straight at me. I braced my arms up to prepare to block it when it wedged in another limb about 2ft from my head. Sometimes we make it through the day in spite of ourselves.
