You are missing the point of a 14000 lb gross of the trailer it is not put 14000 on the axels and a somemore on the truck this is not the way it works when they say the trailer is made for 14000 then that is what they mean total , and yes you can get away with it but then you have way tomuch on the back axel of the truck and this can lead to and axel failure or bending of the rear axel . somost 3/4 ton heavy duty signal wheel pickups with a floater rear axel has a gvw of from 82-9400 at best gvw then take away from that the weight of the truck say like for a 4x4 anywhere between 5400-to over 6000 lbs and what do you have then there is the GCVW and from what i remember it still is not even close to what ou are tryen to pull and yes we have all done that . My 88 F350 4X4 dual rear wheel 460 5 speed 4.10 gear had a gcvw of only 17500 the bad part was that the truck weighed in at 7500 then the 28 foot tandem dual that i have weighs in at guess what 7500 with chains and binders spare tire and wheel and breakaway battery so now i have a 15000 liteweight so legaly i can only put 2500 pounds on the trailer but now take the gross weight of the truck that was 11500 and a trailer gross of 18000 that comes up to 29500 so now what i am over what ford sayes i can gross but under what it can haul this is where they can get ya and if involved in a weck you are at fault because you exceeded the GCVWand there for even though at firts the wreck was not your fault it is now because you did something wrong , that is how they look at it today BTDT . If you guys only knew what i went thru from a wreck 16 years ago that i did everything i could to stay out of it the he** that i went thru as they were going to nail me to the cross for viehickular homicided because the truck i was driving had a snow plow on it and i had installed 12x16.5 tires and first they were tryen to nail me because of the snowplow mounting brackets as they said that i altered the truck well the truck was bought new from Ford as a plow truck with a plow on it from the dealer then the tryed to get me for bumper hight as there books only listed bumper hight for a 2wd not a 4x4 well i had to go to a ford dealer and did thru all the old books to get the body builder book for a 79 f250 and take it to the patrol and show them that the truck was not jacked up then they started on the tires well since a 7.50x16 is 31 inches tall and the 12x16.5 were 31 inches tall they dropped that but it was pure he** and i was off the right side of the road going down tru a ditch tryen to get away from this kid that lost it left of center while drag racen his buddy i just was in the wrong place at the wrong time and driven 48 mph in a 55 mph zone but they were going to hang me . So in other words alway cover your donkey .

Today's Featured Article - Choosin, Mounting and Using a Bush Hog Type Mower - by Francis Robinson. Looking around at my new neighbors, most of whom are city raised and have recently acquired their first mini-farms of five to fifteen acres and also from reading questions ask at various discussion sites on the web it is frighteningly apparent that a great many guys (and a few gals) are learning by trial and error and mostly error how to use a very dangerous piece of farm equipment. It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro ... [Read Article]
