Opinions on a Farmall 400..

Came across a slightly above average 400 with a WFE, FH, average sheet metal, power steering, and slightly better than average rubber. Supposedly it runs great and the "only" problem as it was related to me is that the t/a clutch was damaged in a way to cause it to "explode" in the tractor...long story...What i can see is that where the belt pulley drive goes (on Hs and Ms), there is a plate where it looks like something did in fact explode through the plate.I know it cant look good inside, and the only way to find out what exactly is wrong is to open it up. The kicker is they want $2000 as it sits and then whatever repairs it involves..It runs but is not mobile under its own power due to the clutch damage..Is this a good deal or just a boon doggle in waiting??? Any opinions would be helpful..As I say, not sure about the rest of the tractor...Supposedly everything else is "sound" but we all know that isnt always the case...
