I would say that it depends on what you are planning to do with your tractor. If you're planning to use your tractor for quick, ten or fifteen minutes sessions, I would recommend the M. I have an M with a loader for lifting and plowing snow. It starts in all weather and requires very little maintenance. If your planning to spend more time running, I'd go for the MD. I have an MD for field use (plowing, mowing, raking, baling). It runs strong all day and uses less fuel than an H. All other things equal, I wouldn't trade my MD for anything...there's something really cool about them. Either way you can't go wrong.
