Thanks for all of the help guys. Since I was off today for MLK, I broke down and took it to a shop. First of all we discovered that the used battery I purchased was dead. Boy don't I feel stupid. The switch on the starter is also acting up a bit. But the good news is that he helped me get it started up. We had to adjust the throttle rod since it was running wide open. One more dufus mistake was the butterfly in the carb was too small in diameter. No wonder it wouldn't run right. He has it purring for me now. However after I brought it home the starter still moans at me a lot when I try to start it. We didn't replace the switch. Is this a switch problem or a problem with my second rebuilt battery purchased today? At least this battery does have a warranty. Again, thanks for all of your help this forum is very educational for a shade tree....
