IH dropped most, if not all of the letters designating engine fuel with the Super series. As Steven said, some of the kero/dist H's and M's (I would say most) did not have the kerosene or distillate designation. However virtually all (except the Super series) had the X1 designation if they were gas only. It is unlikely, but certainly not impossible) that the tractor in question has a kerosene or distillate engine, as the WWII gas shortage had long since past. Most of the later kero/dist tractors were for export.
